Privacy policy

What we collect, why, and what we deliberately do not do. Most of our users are under 18, and that shapes the whole document.

Last checked 7 September 2026. Draft, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.

Unreviewed draft. This document has been written in plain language by the TestGuru team and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It is published so that you can see our intentions before you pay us, not because it is a finished legal instrument. It will be replaced by a reviewed version, and we will date the change. If anything here is unclear or looks wrong, email support@testguru.co and ask — we would rather explain it than have you guess.

The short version

What we collect

When you sign up: your email address, a password (stored hashed, never in plain text), and a name if you give one.

When you arrive from a link or an advertisement: the campaign parameters in that link — the source, medium and campaign name, plus which page you came from and, where relevant, the exam, subject and chapter of that page. These are stored on your account at signup. We use them to work out which pages and advertisements bring students who actually find the product useful. They are marketing attribution, not a browsing history.

When you take a paper: your answers, which options you chose, timing per question, the resulting scores, and the diagnoses derived from them. This is the product. Without it there is no report.

When you pay: the invoice details required for GST — name, email, amount, tax and, if you supply one, a GSTIN. The payment itself is handled by a third-party gateway; card numbers never reach us and we do not store them.

Server logs: IP address, browser user-agent and timestamps, kept briefly for security and abuse prevention.

What we do not do

Most of our users are between 16 and 18. Handing a minor’s browsing behaviour to an ad network is not a trade-off we are willing to make, so we have built the site and the product so the question does not arise.

Why we are allowed to hold it

Where consent is the right basis, we ask, and you can withdraw it.

Who else sees it

Only service providers who need to, under contract, and only for these purposes:

We do not share your data with coaching institutes, publishers, advertisers or anyone else who might want to sell you something.

We may disclose data if the law requires it. If that ever happens and we are permitted to tell you, we will.

Students under 18

If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should agree to the terms and make any payment. A parent or guardian may email us to ask what we hold about their child’s account, ask for a copy, or ask for it to be deleted. We will verify the request before acting on it.

We do not target advertising at anyone, and we would not be able to target it at a minor even if we wanted to, because we run no advertising.

How long we keep it

Ask for deletion and we will delete what we are not legally required to keep, and tell you what is left and why.
