NEET UG syllabus: all 50 units, with free notes for each
The official NMC unit list for Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with each unit linked to the NCERT chapters that cover it on NEET Notes.
Which syllabus applies to NEET UG 2027?
The NEET UG syllabus comes from the National Medical Commission (NMC), not from NTA. On 22 December 2025, NMC’s Undergraduate Medical Education Board issued a public notice finalising the “NEET (UG)-2026 Syllabus” for the 2026-27 academic session, and NTA published it on the NEET site.
As of 9 October 2026, no separate NEET UG 2027 syllabus has been notified. The list below is the latest official one. If NMC issues a new notice for 2027, we will update this page.
How is the NEET UG syllabus organised?
| Subject | Units | Share of the paper |
|---|---|---|
| Physics | 20 | 45 questions, 180 marks |
| Chemistry | 20 (physical, inorganic, organic) | 45 questions, 180 marks |
| Biology | 10 | 90 questions, 360 marks |
Biology has the fewest units but the most marks. Each Biology unit is broad: Human Physiology alone covers six NCERT chapters, and Diversity in Living World covers four.
The Physics and Chemistry unit lists are almost the same as JEE Main’s. If you are preparing for both, the overlap is real, but NEET questions are all four-option MCQs with no numerical-answer type.
The full NEET UG syllabus, unit by unit
Each unit is listed in the order NMC published it. Next to it are the NCERT chapters that cover that unit, linked to free notes on NEET Notes. Where a chapter has previous-year questions or a formula sheet there, that is linked too.

Unit list: NEET (UG) 2026 syllabus, NMC public notice of 22 December 2025. Unit order as published; chapters are the NCERT chapters each unit covers. Notes, previous-year questions and formula sheets are on our free sister site, NEET Notes.
How should you use this list?
Print it, or keep it open, and tick units off. The syllabus is the only official boundary for the paper, so a unit list is the most honest progress tracker you have.
Read the unit names carefully. Some cover more than the name suggests. “Experimental Skills” in Physics and “Principles Related to Practical Chemistry” in Chemistry are practical-based units. They do not match a single textbook chapter, so they are easy to miss.
Work from the chapter, not the unit title. The chapter links under each unit show what you need to cover. A unit such as “Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents” is two chapters in your textbook.
Do not rely on old lists. Coaching material printed before the current notice may include topics that are no longer listed, or miss ones that are. When in doubt, check against the official PDF linked at the top of this page.
What does the syllabus not tell you?
It does not tell you how many questions come from each unit. The official syllabus is a list of units, not a question split, and the spread of questions can change from year to year.
For how to decide which units to study first, see chapter-wise weightage. For how the 180 questions are marked, see the exam pattern.
Where to practise the syllabus
Free study material for every unit is on NEET Notes, including a full NEET sample test and daily challenges. The previous-year papers page explains where to find official papers and answer keys.
TestGuru’s NEET UG mock tests are not open yet. When they are, each test report will show which units your wrong answers come from and why.
