NEET UG 2027 dates: what is announced, and what happened in 2026
The NEET UG 2027 exam date has not been announced. Here is the official 2026 timeline, including the cancelled 3 May exam and the 21 June re-examination.
When is NEET UG 2027?
Not announced. As of 9 October 2026:
- NTA has not published a NEET UG 2027 date or information bulletin.
- NEET is not on the NTA examination calendar, which covers exams up to March 2027.
- The official site, neet.nta.nic.in, shows only 2026 material.
We will not guess a date. When NTA publishes one, this page will be updated with the source.
Will NEET UG 2027 be held on computer?
That is not settled. News outlets have reported that NTA told the Supreme Court in May 2026 that NEET UG would move to computer-based testing from 2027, and the Education Minister has publicly said it will. One later report says the Centre told the Court in August 2026 that no final decision had been taken.
No official NTA or NMC notification has been issued. Until one is, the 2026 pen-and-paper exam pattern is the latest official pattern.

What happened to NEET 2026?
These are the facts as stated in NTA’s own press releases and notices.
3 May 2026. The exam was held as scheduled, in pen-and-paper mode.
7 and 8 May 2026. NTA received inputs on alleged malpractice, and on 8 May referred them to central agencies.
12 May 2026. NTA cancelled the 3 May exam, with the approval of the Government of India. The matter was referred to the CBI.
15 May 2026. NTA issued a notice for a re-examination. Candidates did not have to register again or pay any fee, and the original application fees were refunded.
21 June 2026. The re-examination was held, again in pen-and-paper mode. 19,99,895 of the 22,79,743 registered candidates appeared.
16 July 2026. NTA declared the result and the final answer key.

What can you do before the 2027 dates are out?
You do not need a date to prepare. Two things are worth doing now:
- Check your eligibility early. Age, subjects and documents are covered on the eligibility page. Fixing a problem with a certificate takes longer than filling in a form.
- Watch the official site, not social media. NTA announces NEET dates on neet.nta.nic.in and in public notices. Dates shared elsewhere before that are guesses.
If you want a plan that does not depend on the exam date, the preparation strategy is built around phases rather than calendar weeks.
