NEET PG eligibility: MBBS, registration and internship
Who can sit NEET PG, according to NBEMS. The internship cut-off date changes every year, so check it in the bulletin for your exam.
These rules come from the NBEMS NEET PG page on natboard.edu.in and the NEET PG 2025 Information Bulletin. NEET PG 2027 has not been announced, so check its bulletin when it is published.
Am I eligible for NEET PG?
According to NBEMS, you need all three of these:
| Requirement | What it means |
|---|---|
| MBBS | An MBBS degree, or a provisional MBBS pass certificate, recognised under the NMC Act |
| Registration | Permanent or provisional registration with the National Medical Commission or a State Medical Council |
| Internship | One year of internship completed by the cut-off date set for that exam |
What is the internship cut-off date?
NBEMS sets a date for each exam by which your one-year internship must be complete. It changes every year.
| Exam | Internship cut-off |
|---|---|
| NEET PG 2025 | 31 July 2025 (official bulletin) |
| NEET PG 2026 | 30 September 2026 (as reported by Careers360) |
| NEET PG 2027 | Not announced |
If your internship will end after the cut-off date, you are not eligible for that exam, even if you finish only days later. Check this date first when the 2027 bulletin comes out.
What is the NEET PG application fee?
| Category | Fee (NEET PG 2025, official) |
|---|---|
| General / OBC / EWS | ₹3,500 |
| SC / ST / PwD | ₹2,500 |
We could not verify the 2026 fee, and the 2027 fee has not been announced.
How to check your eligibility before the 2027 bulletin
You can do most of the checking now, before NBEMS announces anything:
- Degree. Confirm your MBBS degree or provisional pass certificate is from an institution recognised under the NMC Act.
- Registration. Make sure you hold permanent or provisional registration with the NMC or your State Medical Council, and that the certificate is easy to find.
- Internship end date. Write down the exact date your one-year internship will be complete. When the 2027 bulletin gives the cut-off, you will know at once whether you are in.
- Documents. Keep scanned copies of your degree, registration and internship certificate ready, in case the application asks for them.
If any of these is uncertain, ask your college or council now. Problems with paperwork take longer to fix than a form takes to fill.
Qualifying is a separate step
Eligibility lets you sit the exam. To be considered for admission you must also reach the qualifying percentile for your category: 50th for General and EWS, 45th for General-PwD, and 40th for SC, ST and OBC. See the cutoff page.
