JEE Main previous-year papers and chapter-wise PYQs
Where to find official JEE Main material, full 2026 shift papers you can take as timed tests, and chapter-wise previous-year questions, plus how to review them properly.
Previous-year papers are the closest thing you have to the real exam. This page tells you where to find them and how to get the most out of each one.
Where can you get official JEE Main papers?
The official source for anything about JEE Main is NTA’s website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. NTA publishes its notices for each session there. If you are using a paper you found elsewhere, treat NTA’s site as the authority wherever the two differ.
Free JEE Main 2026 shift papers
Our sister site, JEE Notes, has full 2026 papers that you can take as timed tests, free. These are papers from the April 2026 session (Session 2), shift by shift.

Chapter-wise previous-year questions
When you want to practise one unit at a time, chapter-wise PYQs are more useful than full papers. These links go to the previous-year questions for each unit of the official syllabus on JEE Notes.

A note on older papers
NTA’s syllabus for 2026 has no units for s-Block Elements, Hydrogen, Surface Chemistry, Polymers or Mathematical Reasoning. If an older paper asks about one of these, skip it. It is not a JEE Main unit any more.
How should you use past papers?
A past paper you only score teaches you very little. Most of the value is in the review.
Take it under real conditions
- Sit the whole paper in one three-hour block.
- No calculator, because the exam does not allow one.
- Apply +4 and −1 honestly, to MCQs and numerical answers alike. See the exam pattern.
- Do not look anything up until the time is over.
Review every question you lost marks on
Go through every wrong answer and every skipped question. For each one, write down which of these it was:
| Type of error | What it looks like | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Concept | You held a wrong idea about how something works | Go back to the notes for that chapter, then redo similar questions |
| Misread | You answered a different question from the one asked | Practise underlining what is given and what is asked |
| Calculation | The method was right, the arithmetic was not | Redo it by hand, and practise mental arithmetic |
| Time | You ran out of time or rushed it | Look at where the time went earlier in the paper |
| Guess | You did not know and guessed | Decide whether skipping would have been better |
Redo, then retest
- Redo each wrong question from scratch, without looking at the solution.
- Keep a short list of the ideas that went wrong.
- Come back to those ideas a week or two later, with fresh questions, to check the fix held.
Look for patterns, not single mistakes
One wrong answer is noise. The same kind of mistake across three papers is a pattern, and patterns are what you fix. Keep your error notes in one place so you can see them.
Where TestGuru fits
Past papers show you the real exam. TestGuru’s JEE Main mock tests add the review step for you: after each test, the report names the idea behind each wrong answer, shows the patterns that repeat across your tests, and builds a practice set from your own mistakes.
Our preparation strategy shows how to combine past papers, chapter PYQs and mock tests in one routine.
