GATE cutoff: 2026 qualifying marks for every paper
The GATE 2027 cutoffs will only be known after the result on 19 March 2027. Until then, the GATE 2026 qualifying marks are the best guide, so here they are for every paper and category.
The GATE 2027 cutoffs do not exist yet. They are set paper by paper after the exam and published with the result on 19 March 2027. The table below is the GATE 2026 set, published by IIT Guwahati, which organised that year’s exam.
How do GATE qualifying marks work?
- Each paper has its own qualifying mark for each category.
- In the 2026 table, the OBC-NCL/EWS mark is 90% of the General mark. The GATE 2027 FAQ states the 90% rule for EWS.
- The SC/ST/PwD mark is about two-thirds of the General mark.
- A scorecard is issued only to candidates who reach at least the SC/ST/PwD qualifying mark for their paper.
A qualifying mark is a floor, not a target. It tells you whether you have qualified in GATE. Any admission or recruitment cutoff is set separately by whoever uses the score.

How do the 2026 cutoffs apply to GATE 2027?
Use them as a rough guide only. Three things changed for 2027:
- TF (Textile Engineering) is no longer a paper. It is now section XE9 of the Engineering Sciences (XE) paper.
- RA (Robotics and Automation) is new and has no previous cutoff.
- The syllabi were revised, and qualifying marks are set fresh each year.
The syllabus page has the 2027 paper list, and the exam pattern page explains how the 100 marks are split in each paper.
Where will the GATE 2027 cutoff be published?
On the official GATE 2027 site, gate2027.iitm.ac.in, with the result. We will update this page once IIT Madras publishes it.
Aim above the floor
Clearing the qualifying mark is not the goal for most candidates. The preparation strategy page covers where the reliable marks are. TestGuru’s GATE mock tests are not open yet; join the waitlist to hear the day they are.
